Art Spiegelman was born in Stockholm in 1948. In his early childhood he emigrated with his parents, both survivors of the Shoah, to the United States of America. Art Spiegelman works, in addition to his work as a comic illustrator, as an illustrator for various magazines, publishes the avant-garde comic magazine "Raw" together with his wife Francoise Mouly, teaches at the New York School of Visual Arts and works as an artistic consultant for several companies. Spiegelman lives in New York with his wife and two children.
