Raul Hilberg's monumental work on the Holocaust is being released in a new and expanded edition with a foreword by René Schlott. Approximately 60 years ago, the world's first comprehensive account of the Holocaust was published in the USA, authored by political scientist and historian Raul Hilberg. It was not until 1982 that this groundbreaking work was translated into German. With the coolness and precision that characterize this great chronicler, Hilberg documents the involvement and complicity of the leadership elites in state administration, industry, and the military. Hilberg, who supplemented and updated his work throughout his life, was regarded as perhaps the foremost expert on the sources. The destruction of European Jews has become a standard reference work and has made Hilberg internationally renowned. The newly released edition includes new chapters that have never before appeared in German and are taken from the last English edition published before Hilberg's death. On the occasion of this new edition, historian and Hilberg expert René Schlott has written an introductory foreword. The afterword is by Christian Seeger, the translator of the original edition.
