Intersubjectivity is the new key concept in psychoanalysis. The authors provide an overview of the intersubjective turn in modern psychoanalysis: the self is unconsciously always related to the other, and the psyche is closely interconnected with the social environment. No person stands alone. We are social beings. The inner and outer worlds are intricately intertwined. Subjectivity is intersubjectively mediated. These are the insights from the human sciences that are growing across schools in psychoanalytic pluralism and changing therapeutic practice. Modern psychoanalysis addresses questions of attachment, relationships, and the relationship between self and other. The internationally renowned authors come from psychoanalysis, infant and attachment research, and social philosophy. They approach the riddle of the interconnected soul from different perspectives. What unites them is the view of an individual psyche connected to the social environment.
