A mirror cabinet of desire and betrayal, a love that transcends death, a world of interrogations and recorded phone calls - Ismail Kadare's novel "The Exiled" leaves no character unscathed by guilt. The playwright complies with the request, and soon after, they meet again and begin an affair. After a brief, intense argument, it is the investigative commission that wishes to meet him. Gradually, Rudian Stefa realizes the political implications of his dedication and the tragic scope of his affair. Ismail Kadare is one of the greatest European storytellers of our time. In his novel, he powerfully illustrates how authoritarian rule affects all interpersonal relationships.
