Imagine that: You are sitting in a crashing airplane and in your distress you say a quick prayer in which you promise God to do something specific if you should get out of this situation safely. You survive and ask yourself: Do I have to keep this promise? - Based on these and similar dilemma questions, researchers from the University of Fribourg/CH examined the question of the religious development of people. With their theory of the development of religious judgement, they believe that they have found a sequence of developmental stages that should apply to all people - regardless of their cultural background. On this basis, they also give advice on how to effectively promote religious development in children and young people.
