Product details

Kurt Reuber, a pastor, doctor, and artist, created a painting in the face of immense suffering and paralyzing experiences of death during Christmas 1942, which became a source of comfort for people in the "cauldron" of Stalingrad. In a dark and oppressive reality, faith finds its expression here. The original drawing made its way into the world and is now displayed at the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in Berlin. Copies can be found in Coventry and Volgograd. The artist himself, who died in Soviet captivity in 1944 at the age of 38, remained largely unknown. This book traces the impact history of the famous painting and focuses on Kurt Reuber's work and his brief life. Twenty years after its first publication, this sought-after volume is now completely revised and presented in high quality.
