Monty Roberts, born in 1935 in Salinas, California, was already in the saddle as a child and later became an American rodeo champion. He gained international fame and became a legend in equestrian circles after being invited by Queen Elizabeth II of England to her riding school in 1988 to demonstrate his humane method of handling horses.
