Product details
Tommaso Campanella's 'City of the Sun', together with Thomas Morus' 'Utopia' and Francis Bacon's 'New Atlantis', is one of the classic utopias of modern times. It is translated here for the first time after the Italian original version 'La Città del Sole' from 1602. Campanella wrote it under the impression of the failed revolt against Spanish rule in southern Italy, which brought him almost 27 years in prison. The republic described in it forms the idealized counter-draft to the real world.
