Product details

The sunflower fascinates children with its sun-like flower head and certainly also due to its impressive size. The largest sunflower ever cultivated reached over 8 meters in height. However, it is not just a beautiful ornamental plant; it is also used in various ways in everyday life: whether in cooking with sunflower oil, feeding birds in winter, or washing hair with sunflower shampoo. The plant was brought to Europe by Spanish sailors from America in the 16th century and was initially planted only as an ornamental plant. It was only later discovered that it could also be used as food. The sunflower is particularly suitable for the early elementary school years as a botany topic, as children can study a native flower and thereby learn about the life of a flower. In doing so, students engage in a variety of ways.
