Die sieben Briefe des Doktor Wambach

The life of Dr. Hubert Wambach, a retired chief physician, flows peacefully: meteorological measurements, hobby painting, and regular walks to the grave of his beloved wife, until one day Wambach meets the howling Ise on the street. Ise is five and mourns the loss of her doll Rapunzel. Wambach begins to comfort Ise and writes her letters in the name of the supposedly escaped doll who has run away to Paris. At the same time, he relives the longingly transformed story of his own love and accomplishes his final, most beautiful, and perhaps most lived earthly deed.
