Product details

The Maritime Alps are one of the least known regions of the entire Alps in German-speaking countries. This impressive high mountain landscape rises not far from the Mediterranean, with peaks over 3000 metres high, numerous lakes and the southernmost glaciers in the Alps. Historic paths with fantastic views and an impressive number of mountain huts offer ideal hiking opportunities. As there is no mass tourism, you can often hike here in complete solitude. Highlights of the Maritime Alps are the particularly rich flora and fauna as well as the "Valley of Wonders" with 40,000 prehistoric rock carvings. Both park areas (Maritime Alps Nature Park on the Italian side, Mercantour National Park on the French side) are committed to gentle hiking tourism, which this book explicitly promotes and supports. The routes were developed in collaboration with the Maritime Alps Nature Park.
The book describes a 13-day circular hike, which can easily be shortened to a 6- or 7-day circular hike and can also be varied in many other ways. Many stages can also be walked from a base camp. The richly illustrated guide provides all the necessary information and gives numerous in-depth tips in the introduction, because: You only see what you know!
