His last major novel: After the fire that destroyed his house on a remote archipelago island, former surgeon Fredrik Welin is left with only a caravan, a tent, a boat, and two mismatched rubber boots. And a few people close to him: Jansson, the retired postman, journalist Lisa Modin, and his daughter Louise, who is pregnant and living in Paris.
