Unknown and often underestimated: these are the landscapes of the year, dedicated to places that have retained a special charm and a calm authenticity precisely because of their media absence. Since 2011, the Swiss Landscape Protection Foundation, with the support of the Migros Cooperative and Mr. Balthasar Schmid from Meggen LU, has been honoring natural beauties that rarely make it onto tourist advertising posters and social media likes. These include enchanting moor forests, sacred landscapes of the Saane Valley, natural idylls amidst urban sprawl, the valley of the most impressive panoramas of the Valle di Muggio, the Renaissance landscape of the Geneva countryside, and the vertical wild areas of the Isenthal mountain farmers. These characterful landscapes testify to the commitment of their residents and the diversity of our country, which urgently needs to be preserved.
