Die schönsten deutschen Märchen

This volume presents the most beautiful German-language folk tales from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. It begins with the "Lied vom Einochs" from the 11th century, the first fairy tale to be recorded in writing. It is followed by fairy tales about magic and animals, tales of stories and novellas from the most diverse regions, which show the genre in all its poetic diversity. The book concludes with Wilhelm Busch's "Bauer Pihwitt".
Some of the fairy tales collected here are familiar to us in variants by the Brothers Grimm, but most are lesser known, regionally influenced fairy tales that have only been published in remote places. The book is an invitation to the reader to rediscover German fairy tales.
