After dolphins save his life, Manuel no longer wants to become a whaler. On the contrary, for generations, the residents of the Portuguese island of Madeira have lived from whaling, and twelve-year-old Manuel also wants to become a whaler one day. However, when he finds himself in distress at sea and is carried back to shore by dolphins, he begins to see the giants of the ocean in a completely different light. Together with marine biologist Petra, he fights for the cessation of whaling off the island.
