Die Sagen der Saar

When art historian Karl Lohmeyer first set out in the 1920s to have citizens recount local legends, he aimed not only to document them for posterity but also to recognize their historical significance. For him, every legend contained a kernel of truth. In 1928, he published his first collection of tales: 'The Legends of the Saar, Blies, Nahe from Hunsrück, Soon and Hochwald.' It was a surprising success! New legends were added for subsequent editions, while others were removed. However, even after Lohmeyer's death in 1957, much material remained unpublished. It is only with this complete edition that all the legends come together again - including 140 unpublished manuscripts. In addition to the actual 'Legends of the Saar,' you can also find the legends from the Nahe region, Hunsrück, Soon, and Hochwald, which were last printed in 1935. With this complete edition, Lohmeyer's collection of legends is finally finished and complete.
