Energy is an important factor in shaping Russian foreign policy, particularly towards Kazakhstan. This book attempts to isolate the role of energy amidst a sea of other factors that have already been addressed in the literature of both Anglo-American and Russian traditions. However, what is lacking in contemporary literature is a rounded and thorough scientific approach to examining the role of energy in foreign policy. To fill this gap, the methodology of political science is complemented here by a multidisciplinary approach, which gives significant attention to other energy-related fields of study and their impacts on geographical, technological, legal, and economic issues. The originality of this work is not intended to lie in its conclusions, but rather in the unique scientific methods with which it has been developed. Its new analytical approach will be appreciated by students and scholars interested in new ways of considering energy issues.
