Die rituelle Welt des Lukas

Luke's Gospel portrays his Jesus as a Jew who works in, with, through or also against the rituals of his culture. By applying modern theories of ritual, a better understanding of Jesus' ritual activity in the third Gospel becomes possible, with glimpses of the Acts of the Apostles. It becomes apparent that the ritual grounding that thematically runs through the entire Gospel is of great relevance both for its understanding and for the study of the ritual world of early Christianity. Luke's Gospel offers rituals that are relatively open to design, in striking contrast to the ritual rigour of the Roman environment.
