Product details
Schiller's attack on the 'inkblotting century' escalated into a scandal when it premiered in Mannheim in January 1782: 'The theater resembled a madhouse. There was a general dissolution like in chaos, from whose mists a new creation emerges.' His first play made Schiller famous overnight, earning him the reputation of a German Shakespeare and is the most powerful manifestation of 'Sturm und Drang'. To this day, the rebellion of the young rebel Franz Moor against his father, brother, and the world order moves the audience.
