Product details

Friedrich Schiller's first drama 'Die Räuber', published anonymously in 1781 and premiered in 1782 at the Mannheim National Theater with great success, established his fame as a playwright. With his play about the old Count Maximilian von Moor and his opposing sons Franz and Karl, Schiller has succeeded in boldly combining psychological drama, family tragedy and political melodrama. The Sturm-und-Drang play fascinates with its fast-paced plot, frequent changes of location and plot, numerous main and secondary characters and a passionate, to the point of unnaturalness open - sometimes even vulgar - language.

Text in new spelling. - Notes from Christian Grawe.
