Fifteen years have passed since then 11-year-old Rachel Cunningham shot her mother. A tragic accident - or so she remembers. Since then, Rachel has been living voluntarily in a psychiatric hospital without ever having overcome her feelings of guilt. But Trevor Lehto, an acquaintance and budding journalist, wants to find out more about the case for a report. The desire to finally face the whole truth also awakens in Rachel. Determined, she leaves the clinic and goes to her aunt Charlotte and her sister Diana, who live in Rachel and Diana's parents' house, a stately hunting lodge.
