Product details

In 1932, C. G. Jung, together with the Indologist J. W. Hauer, conducted a seminar on Kundalini Yoga. It is regarded as a milestone in the psychological approach to Eastern spirituality. Jung aimed to interpret Kundalini Yoga and its chakra system as a model for consciousness development. He understood the spiritual energy of Kundalini as the driving force behind individuation, the lifelong process of psychological growth and maturation of a person. The various stages of individuation were symbolized for him in the seven chakras, which are considered centers of spiritual energy in yoga. The transcripts of the four seminar sessions—introduced and commented on by Sonu Shamdasani—vividly illuminate how Eastern philosophy and spiritual practice can be made accessible to enlightened Western thought through depth psychological interpretation.
