Christl, the daughter of the postmaster from Erlbach, meets the medical student Thomas von Lafret on the alpine pasture, a son of the feared peasant count, and discovers the joy of first love. However, everything turns out differently than expected. Thomas succumbs to the pressure from his father and becomes engaged to the factory owner's daughter, Anita. Suddenly, Christl's father has an accident, leaving her to manage the abandoned farm on her own. With a strong hand and new ideas, she bravely defies the peasant count. Meanwhile, Thomas also realizes his dream of having his own medical practice.
