Aldous Leonard Huxley, born in 1894 in Godalming, Surrey, was educated at Eton. After suffering from a serious eye disease, he studied English literature at Oxford and worked as a journalist and theater critic starting in 1919. In 1921, he began his literary career with the publication of his first novel "Crome Yellow." From 1938 onwards, he lived in California. Huxley passed away in 1963 in Hollywood.
