Non-judgmental genuine attention is one of the greatest gifts in human interaction. How this can be done intentionally and possibly in a structured manner is something to be explored. This book addresses, among other things, the question of how important this struggle for permanent presence is in the pastoral approach to people. The exploration of this topic was conducted using the methodology of expert interviews. Interviewees included a religious educator, a pastor, a therapist, and a monk. The results and insights, along with the resulting themes, can be found in the first part of the book. Following this, the contact process is explained using a case study. The conclusion includes some thoughts on the challenges of mindful pastoral care in a secular environment. The author draws on her many years of experience working with children and adults in private, educational, and therapeutic settings. Her pedagogical approach allows for a practical engagement with this complex topic and opens new pathways in pastoral care.
