The great classic of Afrofuturism is now available in German for the first time! The year is 2032. Lauren Olamina has founded a small community in Northern California, where she lives in peace according to the rules of her new religion. They welcome all those who are persecuted after the election of the ultra-conservative President Jarret. Jarret promised during his campaign to make America great again, but in reality, he is deepening the divisions in an already torn country with his speeches and actions. Soon, Lauren's community—a minority religion led by a Black woman—becomes a target of his hatred. Years later, Lauren's daughter, Ash, studies her mother's diaries. She searches the past for answers to her questions and seeks to understand her mother, who was torn between her responsibility for her community and her destiny to lead humanity as a whole into a better future.
