Advancements in artificial intelligence present unprecedented challenges to patent law. The number of patent applications that involve artificial intelligence is steadily increasing. For such applications, the training data of the respective AI systems is often relevant. This paper examines the extent to which this training data must be disclosed in patent applications. Through an analysis of the current legal situation, the significance of training data for the disclosure of AI inventions is highlighted, and its feasibility is examined. Subsequently, various options for the disclosure of training data are discussed from both legal and technical perspectives.
