The naval officer and Arctic researcher Karl Weyprecht, born in Darmstadt in 1838, participated in the North Pole expedition between 1872 and 1874, which aimed to explore the Northeast Passage. Although this expedition could not be completed due to the ship succumbing to pack ice, Weyprecht was able to conduct groundbreaking studies of the Arctic. This book contains these evaluations and investigations by the significant scientist.
