Product details

This study focusses on the formal history of drama - especially tragedy - from 1731 to 1836. From J. Ch. Gottsched and his Christian martyr drama "Dying Cato", the path leads to the secular-moral tragedies of G. E. Lessing and on to the "mimetic" drama of J. M. R. Lenz, the pathos-laden plays of F. Schiller ("Kabale und Liebe", the republican drama "Fiesco"), the two classical plays by J. W. Goethe and G. Büchner's revolutionary dramas "Danton's Tod" and "Woyzeck" from 1836.
