Die Maler der Gruppe ZEBRA

The aim of the group Zebra, founded in Hamburg in 1964, is to further develop modernity towards a visible world and thus renew the connection between art and life. This is the essence, the best-of the internationally renowned artist group Zebra, established in 1964/65 (comprising Dieter Asmus, Peter Nagel, and Dietmar Ullrich), whose goal is to create a binding new realism for our time, to advance modernity towards a visible world, and to reconnect art and life. Trained in abstraction and raised with photography, the artists manage to exemplarily immortalize contemporary views into suggestive images of our present. The artists were influenced by Pablo Picasso, Francis Bacon, and Jean Dubuffet. Joint exhibitions took place in Aalborg, Belgrade, Cologne, Hamburg, London, and Rome, among others.
