Product details

Weizenbaum wants to warn us about the hubris of the natural sciences. He calls for the rational use of science and technology instead of mystifying them - and he does this with great temperament. In particular, the successful computer scientist takes those of his colleagues to court, who want to make us (and probably themselves) believe that man is in principle nothing more than an information processing system, i.e. can be completely simulated with a sufficiently powerful computer. It is precisely this conviction of the researchers who work with artificial intelligence, which he mockingly assigns to the clan of "artificial intelligence", that Joseph Weizenbaum sees as the quintessence of scientific narrow-mindedness.
