Author's text: Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, 1898-1993. Studied theology and served as a pastor at Marble Collegiate Church in New York from 1932, one of the oldest churches in America. "The Power of Positive Thinking," his first book, written in 1949, made Peale world-famous. The manuscript was initially rejected by many publishers and was only published in October 1952 - it quickly took the New York Times bestseller list by storm.
