Product details

On the occasion of his 100th birthday, Jünger held a unique and final series of conversations over three days in Wilflingen and Madrid with his Italian translators. Jünger's memories traverse the century and its figures: Carl Schmitt and Heidegger, Hitler and Rommel, Léon Bloy and Hannah Arendt, Montherlant, Hesse, and Yourcenar, Kubin, Trakl, and Chatwin. Notably, second-order stars who visited him, such as Kohl, Mitterrand, and Gonzalez, receive little mention. The patriarch also looks forward to the 3rd millennium, the era of the coming titans. Our edition is based on the Italian original edition, which Jünger authorized. Franco Volpi is a professor of philosophy at the University of Padua. He has published a two-volume philosophy encyclopedia in German and has emerged as Jünger’s translator into Italian. Antonio Gnoli is an editor at the daily newspaper "La Repubblica.".
