Even small caterpillars can have a big appetite. That's why the Very Hungry Caterpillar sets out in search of something to eat and finds plenty. From Monday to Sunday, it eats its way through a mountain of treats, page by page, until it is finally full. Now it's time to build a cocoon, and after two weeks of waiting, a beautiful butterfly emerges from it. The little ones play with the Very Hungry Caterpillar by sticking their fingers through the die-cut caterpillar holes. Slightly older children discover the days of the week, fruits, numbers, and the metamorphosis in nature with her. And everyone loves her secret message of hope, which her creator Eric Carle describes as: "I can grow up too. I can spread my wings (my talents) and fly into the world."
