The themes of witches and magic resonate strongly with children and have become a classic topic in elementary schools. In this reading, one can expect that some children may already be familiar with the book or parts of it. However, this does not diminish motivation—in fact, children are excited to rediscover familiar elements while reading. This allows teachers to focus not on controlling comprehension but on providing a differentiated offering that encourages children to engage productively and leads to deeper insights into this masterpiece of children's literature.

The teaching material allows for open, collaborative work, as well as a gradual, collective exploration of the chapters. For almost every chapter, at least one reading comprehension check or language and spelling exercise is offered. This framework is complemented by "witch experiments"—scientific activities related to the theme of witches, songs, puzzles, craft suggestions, and a concluding dice game. Naturally, there are numerous opportunities for children to engage with the reading through writing (productive writing) or to be inspired by it (creative writing).
