Die Kirche kann sich das Leben nehmen

The combative pastor Josef Hochstrasser on the state of the churches - ten sharply formulated theses for a vibrant faith - a plea for an active Jesus movement. Roman Catholic Church, Protestant Reformed Church, Christian Catholic Church, independent churches, Lutheran churches, free churches, Russian Orthodox and other Eastern churches - this list could go on forever. And even if one limits oneself to the first three denominations, which are recognized as state churches at the cantonal level in Switzerland, Jesus would certainly not know to which of these churches he should feel he belongs if he were alive today. Jesus exemplified a simple, democratic, and thus revolutionary faith in a just world, and had no overly regulated theoretical framework in mind. Today, churches are losing members in droves. This is only the beginning.
