Product details
Antero Moreira de Mendonca has set his sights on the Jesuits. When a biblical-scale earthquake devastates Lisbon in 1755 and the Jesuits preach the wrath of God, the young natural scientist sees an opportunity to take revenge on the order. However, Gabriel Malagrida, the Jesuit leader revered as a prophet, manages to imprison Antero. He is to be executed. His only chance of possibly escaping with his life lies with the German merchant's daughter, Leonor. In fact, she helps him. But what Antero does not know is that she is also a Jesuit.
