Product details

Around 1919, Bertolt Brecht was engaged with six works that he addressed in the one-act plays The Wedding (also The Small-Bourgeois Wedding), The Beggar or The Dead Dog, He Drives Out a Devil, Lux in Tenebris, The Fish Catch, and Opera after Hamsun. In his Scandinavian exile, Brecht thematizes the behavior of the host countries Denmark and Sweden (neutrality policy towards Germany) in the one-act plays Dansen and What Does Iron Cost? When the Swedish actress Naima Wifstrand opens an acting school in Stockholm in 1940 and Helene Weigel has the opportunity to rehearse with the students, Brecht writes several scenes for his wife based on classical pieces, which he later assigns as practice pieces for actors in his theoretical work The Brass Purchase. The texts follow the "Great Annotated Berlin and Frankfurt Edition" of Brecht's works.
