Die Grundeigentumsverhältnisse im Konkubinat

The topic of cohabitation is by no means new, yet it is highly relevant today. Non-marital partnerships have always existed, but what is even more telling is that approximately one-fifth of all couples in Switzerland live in cohabitation, with a strong upward trend. The absolute number of people living in cohabitation alone calls for a deeper examination of how cohabiting partners can acquire property and what legal consequences this entails for them. The significance of this issue is further emphasized by the lack of a universally applicable definition of non-institutionalized living arrangements, and this form of partnership is only partially addressed by current legal regulations.
