Die Geschichte von Kullervo

Kullervo is an orphan boy with supernatural powers and a tragic fate. He grows up with his uncle, the dark wizard Untamo, who killed his father, kidnapped his mother, and attempted to kill Kullervo three times when he was still a boy. This story has never been published in other Tolkien editions. Kullervo has no one left except for his twin sister Wanona, who loves him, and the black dog Musti, who protects him with his magical abilities. When he is sold into slavery, he vows to take revenge on his uncle. However, he must learn that there is no escape from the cruelest of fates. The story, based on the Finnish Kalevala saga, is not only the first document of Tolkien's extraordinary storytelling but also an important part of the legends of the First Age.
