Product details

The Brit Joseph Cyril Bamford (JCB) introduced a work machine in 1953 that features a backhoe at the rear and a massive loading bucket at the front, based on a tractor. Since the 1960s, other tractor manufacturers have also developed their own versions of the backhoe loader. Notably, Massey Ferguson's development of the Instant-Reverse, a reverse transmission with a torque converter, stands out. Further innovations increasingly facilitate work with this multifunctional device: self-leveling buckets, quick couplers, hydraulically adjustable side shifts, and telescopic dipper arms are just some of the advancements. In this second volume, Rudi Heppe presents the history of foreign backhoe loader manufacturers and showcases the variety of types through rare photographs spanning nearly seven decades.
