Author's Text
Wolf Erlbruch, born in 1948, studied graphic design and worked as an illustrator in the advertising industry before he began writing and illustrating children's books in the late 1980s. He is a professor at the University of Wuppertal. In addition to numerous awards, Wolf Erlbruch received the Gutenberg Prize from the City of Leipzig in 2003 for his body of work and the special prize of the German Youth Literature Prize. Among the titles published by Peter Hammer Verlag are: "The Little Mole Who Wanted to Know Who Had Pooped on His Head" (Text: Werner Holzwarth), "The Terrible Five," "Leonard," "The Bear Miracle" (German Youth Literature Prize 1993), "The Workshop of Butterflies" (Text: Gioconda Belli), "Mrs. Meier, the Blackbird," "The Man-Eater" (Text: Valéry Dayre), "At Night," "In the Beginning" (Text: Bart Moeyaert), "The Big Question," and the children's room calendars (1994-99, 2004-11).
