Eddie runs a carnival and keeps the rides, including the gondolas, in good shape. However, on his 83rd birthday, a free fall gondola crashes from a great height. At the very last moment, he spots Annie, a little girl sitting at the base of the tower. He pulls her out just in time, gets hit himself, and dies. Grumpy and in disbelief about his own fate, he finds himself in heaven. One by one, he encounters five people who played a role in his life. In a powerful reflection, he comes to terms with his fate and realizes the value of his own life.
