Copenhagen 1885: Nelly and Marie work in the largest weaving factory in Copenhagen. During a serious accident at the loom, Marie is severely injured. Nelly wants to find the culprit but only encounters resistance and threats in the factory. With a terrible suspicion, she stands alone and doesn't even tell her beloved Johannes about it. Johannes' sister Anna lives on a farm in Jutland. When she hears that Johannes urgently needs her help, she immediately sets off for Copenhagen and is shocked by how brutal and unjust life is in the big city. However, Anna takes up the fight and makes a milestone in the history of Denmark.
