She became famous as a model and muse to successful men like Man Ray and Pablo Picasso, but soon pursued her own calling: as a successful photographer, war correspondent, and passionate traveler. Her reports for American Vogue on the Nazi terror regime in Germany reached audiences worldwide. After witnessing the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp, David Sherman photographed Lee Miller in April 1945 in the bathtub of Adolf Hitler's Munich apartment. The photo, along with other evidence of her exciting life, was rediscovered only after Miller's death in the attic of her farm in Sussex, England.
