Die Flur- und Siedlungsnamen der Amtei Solothurn-Lebern

The volumes of the Solothurn Name Book deal with the field and settlement names of the respective district of the canton of Solothurn. The lexicons comprise a collection of approximately 30,000 place, field, settlement, street, water, and mountain names from the districts of Dorneck-Thierstein, Olten-Gösgen, and Thal-Gäu.

The fifth volume expands the series to include the area of Solothurn-Lebern. It contains a collection of around 8,000 names of locations (fields, mountains, forests, rivers, streets) and people (owners, tenants, etc.). Based on approximately 45,000 handwritten, printed, oral, and cartographic scientifically transcribed documents from all 16 municipalities of the Solothurn-Lebern district, the landscape of place and field names in this district is presented for the first time in its historical depth as a lexicon. Linguistic articles and interpretations of names, set against the backdrop of linguistic and cultural history, complement the presentation.

A historical treatise, a description of the dialectological features of the district, and discussions on the street and house names of the city of Solothurn deepen the volume. Additionally, a reference map is provided for each municipality, showing the currently used field and settlement names.
