Product details

In the late 14th century, a distinct art of fireworks developed in Italy from the use of gunpowder, which then spread throughout Europe. Fireworks served as a means of courtly representation in Europe since the early modern period and were further developed into a unique type of event during the Baroque era. The political and representative character was always at the forefront. Nowadays, fireworks are primarily set off in America and Europe during New Year's celebrations. This volume describes, among other things, various types of powders related to gunpowder, as well as gun cotton, flash sugar, blasting oil, flash silver, and flash gold, the production of ignition caps, pyrotechnic compositions, fireworks rockets, and much more. Illustrated with 18 black and white images. Reprint of the original edition from 1874.
