Product details

How is cooperation possible in a world of egoists, where there is no central authority? Axelrod develops a surprising solution from game theory - based on the prisoner's dilemma. It is not the most sophisticated, nor the most aggressive, nor the gentlest strategy that ensures long-term success, but rather the fundamentally benevolent yet always ready to retaliate: tit for tat, "as you do to me, so I do to you." Axelrod concludes that there is an inherent compulsion towards cooperation in the global division of labor. Profitable collaborations are more beneficial for companies than blind competition.
