Die EU-Maschinenrichtlinie

On 1 January 1995, the CE mark and the declaration of conformity from machine manufacturers and dealers became mandatory for all machines in the EU. Since 1 January 1999, machines must also comply with the protection requirements of the EMC Directive and the Electrical Equipment Directive. Since the same date at the latest, all machine operators have been legally obliged by the Work Equipment Directive to only install CE-marked machines and to retrofit old machines accordingly. On 29 July 2006, the revised Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC came into force, in which the risk assessment and type examination in particular were newly regulated. The authors provide comprehensive information on the application of the machinery safety directives, drawing on a wealth of experience from many development and design projects.
