Product details

Ilan Pappe describes how the military conflict in the years 1947 to 1949 turned into a systematic policy of Israel that still prevents peace in Palestine today. Two months before the end of the British administration of Palestine on behalf of the UN, on March 10, 1948, a round of high-ranking Zionist politicians meets in the Red House in Tel Aviv, the headquarters of the underground militia Haganah. David Ben Gurion, later Prime Minister of Israel, invited them. Among them are Yigal Allon (later foreign minister), Moshe Dayan (later defense and foreign minister), Yigael Yadin (later deputy prime minister), Yitzchak Rabin (later prime minister and Nobel Peace Prize winner). They agree on the final version of a master plan for the expulsion of the Arab population: "Plan Dalet" (Plan D). The land - only eleven percent of which is owned by Jewish immigrants, who do not even make up a third of the population - is to be systematically cleared for final Jewish settlement, and any means will do. "Anyone who wants to better understand the core conflict in the Middle East should read Ilan Pappe's book, written with a great deal of heart and soul." Marcel Pott on Deutschlandfunk.
